MAURITANIA

History
Mauritania is a country in North Africa that is rich in natural resources, including iron ore, gold, copper, and oil. Mining is one of the primary industries in Mauritania, and it accounts for a significant portion of the country's economy. The history of mining in Mauritania can be traced back to the early 1960s when French and Spanish companies began exploring the country's mineral resources.

Gold
Gold mining is one of the main industries in the country. The country has several gold mines, including the Tasiast mine, which is one of the largest gold mines in Africa. The Tasiast gold mine is located in the northwest part of the country. The mine started production in 2008 and has since become a significant contributor to Mauritania's economy. In addition to the Tasiast mine, there are several other smaller gold mines located throughout Mauritania. These mines are operated by both local and international mining companies.
